GTA 5 Leaving PlayStation Plus Ahead of GTA 6 Launch [Confirmed]

Rockstar Games is officially removing Grand Theft Auto 5 from Sony's PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers in November 2026, forcing millions of console subscribers to purchase standalone licenses ahead of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 launch window. According to verified reports from Kotaku, players have roughly a month remaining to explore Los Santos under their existing subscription tier before Sony revokes catalog access. GTA 5 stands as an unprecedented titan in interactive entertainment, having bridged three console generations and logged more than 200 million units sold worldwide across thirteen historic years. The strategic de-listing aligns directly with Take-Two Interactive's monetization ramp toward the impending GTA 6 launch. Rather than letting casual players indefinitely cruise through San Andreas on subscription tiers, Rockstar is consolidating its active user base into owned retail SKUs and prepping online migration protocols. For long-term players, cloud saves and GTA Online profile data remain stored on Rockstar Social Club servers, meaning character ranks, owned properties, and cash reserves will not vanish once the title drops off the dashboard. This departure mirrors seasonal shifts across live-service ecosystems, much like the transition seen in [Modern Warfare 4 Season 1: Release Date Revealed [Confirmed]](/news/modern-warfare-4-season-1-release-date).
