God of War Kratos Almost Named Dominus [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from IGN Articles, iconic God of War protagonist Kratos was originally slated to be named Dominus during early production at Santa Monica Studio until relentless pizza jokes forced a complete character rebranding. Series creator David Jaffe recently detailed the fascinating behind-the-scenes production hurdle, explaining that while 'Dominus' sounded appropriately dominant and powerful, development team members relentlessly pelted the writing room with fast-food delivery puns such as '30 minutes or free' or 'Get the door, it's Dominus' whenever the working title was uttered during meetings. After roughly fifty repetitions of these relentless jests, studio leadership recognized the name was completely untenable and immediately scrapped it. Jaffe subsequently resorted to leafing through physical printouts containing lists of Ancient Greek baby names, scanning for viable alternatives with a yellow highlighter before ultimately landing on Kratos. This entertaining historical near-miss proves how spontaneous workplace culture directly influences AAA game development, much like major narrative pivots observed across modern franchises and cinematic adaptations explored in historical deep dives like [Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2: Plot Details & Themes [Confirmed]](/news/cyberpunk-edgerunners-season-2-confirmed-160).
