Forza Game Awards Nominee 2026: The Historic Streak Ends [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from Polygon published in October 2026, the legendary Forza franchise is facing its first realistic threat of losing The Game Awards Best Sports/Racing category after nearly a decade of uninterrupted category dominance. For years, the category has followed rigid rules where racing titles historically outperform traditional sports entries like EA Sports FC. However, the 2026 awards cycle introduces fierce competition from breakthrough titles like Star Wars Galactic Racer, challenging the studio's stronghold. Industry critics note that while racing games have historically secured nine out of twelve wins—with Forza capturing five of those trophies—changing player expectations and critical fatigue are reshaping award season odds. This paradigm shift mirrors broader gaming industry cost adjustments, much like the [PlayStation Plus Cost: 2010 vs. 2026 Pricing [Update 2026]](/news/playstation-plus-cost-2010-vs-2026) debates happening across digital ecosystems. Editorial panels are scrutinizing innovation factors, production polish, and long-term player engagement metrics more rigorously than ever before. As Geoff Keighley's annual celebration approaches, developers and publishers await official nominee announcements to see if the historic winning streak truly concludes this December.
