Fortnite v42.40 Patch Notes: Loot Hacks & Sprites [Patch Notes]

Epic Games officially deployed the Fortnite v42.40 patch notes today, marking the final major content update of Chapter 7 Season 4 and Fortnitemares 2026 by delivering six new Loot Hacks, balanced shotguns, and two fresh utility Sprites across all platforms. According to verified reporting from Esports.gg, the update refreshes the Island's late-season gameplay with the arrival of the fan-created Honey Sprite and the Obsession-inspired One Wish Willow Sprite. Players can now deploy six new Loot Hacks to alter match mechanics and secure premium supply drops dynamically. Concurrently, Epic Games adjusted the Sweeper Shotgun's damage spread to stabilize close-quarters engagements while vaulting obsolete weapon Overrides to refine weapon pools ahead of the seasonal finale. Dataminers also uncovered early assets detailing major upcoming crossovers, including Slender Man, Hamikuma, Predator Badlands, and an expansive One Piece anime collaboration. Much like technological evolution seen in the [Steam Frame OLED Headset Specs & Rumors [Analysis 2026]](/news/steam-frame-oled-headset-rumors), Epic continues pushing interactive live-service design. The v42.40 deployment establishes the final competitive ruleset for Fortnitemares 2026 before Chapter 7 transitions into its anticipated mini-season finale next month.
