Fortnite Linux Port: Epic Overhauls Anti-Cheat [Confirmed]

Epic Games has officially confirmed that Fortnite is coming to Linux and handheld platforms like Valve's Steam Deck, driven by a ground-up native rebuild of Easy Anti-Cheat to ensure kernel parity without relying on compatibility translation layers. According to verified reports from GameSpot News, Epic previously avoided enabling Linux support for the existing EAC architecture due to critical security discrepancies when running through Wine and Proton compatibility software. Because modern competitive shooters demand impenetrable integrity, developers frequently disabled Linux compatibility rather than compromise protection. This ground-up rebuild of EAC will run natively on Linux kernels, directly tackling memory tampering, malicious kernel injection, and unauthorized peripheral spoofing. Fortnite will serve as the primary proving ground for this upgraded infrastructure before Epic distributes the toolset to third-party Unreal Engine studios. The move resolves a years-long debate spearheaded by Valve and handheld enthusiasts, unlocking massive addressable audiences on SteamOS.
