FIFA Ronaldo Favoritism: Southgate Slams 2026 Ruling [Confirmed]

Former England national team manager Gareth Southgate has openly accused FIFA of displaying blatant disciplinary favouritism toward Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, questioning governing officials after Ronaldo avoided severe sanctions following a violent conduct incident against Dara O’Shea. According to verified reports from Sportskeeda Esports & BGMI, Southgate revisited the controversial clash during Portugal's 2-0 defeat to the Republic of Ireland, where Ronaldo was red-carded for elbowing O'Shea. Southgate emphasized that standard regulations typically mandate a multi-match suspension for clear violent conduct, yet global football executives minimized the fallout to safeguard commercial appeal before major international fixtures. Southgate insisted that uniform application of rules remains paramount to competitive integrity, warning that lenient penalties erode trust among athletes, managers, and analytical esports analysts tracking qualification probability. With the 2026 global showcase approaching in North America, Southgate's revelations have reignited global discussions surrounding superstar privileges on and off the competitive pitch.
