Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2: Hideo Kojima Returns [Confirmed]

Hideo Kojima is officially returning to Night City as braindance auteur Hideyoshi Oshima in Netflix's animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2, CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger confirmed on October 19, 2026, following the lifting of early critical review embargos. According to verified reports from Kotaku, the Japanese auteur creator reprises the role he first originated during the iconic Konpeki Plaza heist in Cyberpunk 2077. In the original video game, players could spot Oshima enjoying drinks in the hotel lounge while pontificating about sensory experiences and pushing artistic boundaries in braindance production. CD Projekt Red celebrated the announcement across official social channels, welcoming Kojima back into the dystopian sprawl alongside Studio Trigger's signature high-octane animation style. While Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II focuses primarily on new street-level operatives surviving Corporate greed, Oshima's appearance anchors the sequel directly inside the wider video game canon. Industry observers note how narrative crossovers continue elevating engagement, reminiscent of how [The FINALS Update: AI Announcers Say Player Names [Confirmed]](/news/the-finals-announcer-names-update-2026) captured viral gaming headlines. Fans can expect Oshima's eccentric creative ethos to intersect with the dark, neon-soaked underworld of Night City.
