Drunken Goddess Reflux Cancels Steam Demo [Confirmed]

Drunken Goddess Reflux publisher Alliance Arts has officially cancelled its public Steam demo in October 2026, replacing the open trial with an invite-only closed beta to prevent rapid generative AI replication and unauthorized clone deployments across rival PC storefronts and Roblox. According to verified reports from Kotaku, the anime psychological gambling horror title had quietly amassed over 25,000 followers, securing the 65th spot among the most wishlisted games on Valve's platform prior to the decision. Blending tension-driven Russian roulette gambling reminiscent of Buckshot Roulette with visual novel aesthetics akin to Doki Doki Literature Club!, the title became an attractive target for bad actors utilizing automated LLMs and code scrapers. Industry observers note that advanced generative systems can now parse raw client binaries and asset bundles within hours, outputting knock-off prototypes on web platforms before genuine developers launch. Much like discussions surrounding indie innovation in [Eternal Anima: Final Fantasy Vets Reveal New JRPG [Confirmed]](/news/eternal-anima-rpg-reveal-2026), Alliance Arts determined that unrestricted public demo files exposed their proprietary art direction and game loop logic to immediate theft. Valve currently allows developers full autonomy over demo availability, prompting the studio to pivot directly toward gated closed beta builds.
