Clayface DC Movie Review: Body Horror Hits Theaters [Confirmed]

DC Studios' standalone body horror film Clayface hits Indian theatres on October 23 in English and Hindi, showcasing Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, a disfigured Hollywood star whose desperate pursuit of aesthetic beauty transforms him into Gotham's most grotesque, shape-shifting tragic monster. According to verified reports from IGN India, the theatrical premiere delivers an unflinching narrative focused on physiological deterioration rather than standard comic action. After a brutal encounter with organized crime syndicates ruins Hagen's face, an experimental cosmetic compound alters his cellular makeup, generating gruesome physical mutations that challenge comic cinema norms. Similar to Hollywood's tonal experimentation seen in [Avengers Doomsday: Josh Brolin Teases Thanos vs Doom [Confirmed]](/news/avengers-doomsday-thanos-doctor-doom-crossover), DC leverages auteur-driven horror tropes to refresh its villain catalog. IGN India highlights Harries' visceral performance alongside practical visual effects that honor original DC lore while steering into disturbing psychological drama. The production strips away superhero safety nets, delivering a grim case study on hubris, identity dysmorphia, and violent body horror.
