Ace Combat Zero Standalone Steam App: 136GB Fix [Confirmed]

According to verified reports from PC Gamer, Bandai Namco has officially announced that Ace Combat Zero will receive its own standalone application on Steam, finally detaching the beloved PS2 jet fighter classic from the massive 136GB Ace Combat 8 install package. When Ace Combat 8 launched to critical acclaim, earning a stellar 92% review score on PC Gamer, it included Ace Combat Zero as a special pre-order bonus. However, players quickly expressed intense frustration because downloading the 3.2GB port required installing the entire 136GB Wings of Theve client. This sparked a wave of negative user reviews on Steam despite the game's legendary status among flight sim enthusiasts. The new standalone launcher update rectifies this storage oversight, allowing pre-order owners to access the classic campaign independently. Bandai Namco confirmed that while the standalone app solves storage bloat, availability remains strictly limited to those who secured the original pre-order bonus. The patch rolled out seamlessly via Steam, reinforcing publisher responsiveness to community feedback and ensuring smoother digital preservation for classic aviation masterpieces across modern PC hardware architectures today.
