BGMI vs PUBG Mobile: Same Game, Different Versions

Battlegrounds Mobile India, known as BGMI, and PUBG Mobile are both battle royale games from Krafton built on the same core gameplay. BGMI was created as a separate edition for the Indian market after PUBG Mobile was restricted there, while PUBG Mobile remains the global edition played in Pakistan and most other countries. The maps, modes, and shooting feel familiar across both, which is why players often confuse them. The differences sit underneath: separate servers, separate stores, and separate accounts.

BGMI is published for players in India only, and its servers and store are set up for the Indian market. PUBG Mobile is the global version, available in Pakistan, the Middle East, and most other regions outside India. Your location decides which edition you can download and play officially, not your preference. A player in Pakistan should play PUBG Mobile, because that is the edition published for their region.

A BGMI account and a PUBG Mobile account are separate, and progress, ranks, skins, and currency do not move between them. If you played BGMI while in India and then moved to Pakistan, your BGMI progress stays on the BGMI side and you start fresh on PUBG Mobile. The same applies in reverse for players moving to India. Before spending on either version, be sure which edition you will keep playing, and see BGMI vs PUBG Mobile differences for more detail.

Players in Pakistan should play PUBG Mobile, the global edition, because it is the version officially available and supported there. It has the full event calendar, the local server options, and the community that Pakistani players actually compete in, including the daily custom room on 217G. Trying to force BGMI to work outside India leads to login errors, region warnings, and an account that can stop working at any time. If you want a strong start on the global version, browse PUBG Mobile accounts and compare them through escrow.
