One is India's version, one is global. Servers, events, and accounts do not cross over — and that changes every buying decision.

BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) is the version of the game published for India, while PUBG Mobile global serves the rest of the world. They share the core gameplay but run on separate servers, with separate events, separate publishers for their regions, and separate account systems. A BGMI account and a PUBG Mobile global account are different accounts, even for the same player.
Accounts Do Not Cross Over
Because the versions are separate, progress, skins, and purchases do not carry between them, and there is no official transfer path. A player moving to or from India normally starts fresh on the version for their new region. For buyers, this matters enormously: a BGMI account is only useful to someone who can actually play the Indian version, and a global account is only useful to someone on global servers. Region is part of the product, not a detail.
Buying Across Versions
Before buying either version, confirm which version the account belongs to, which region you can play from, and that every recovery channel transfers. Sellers sometimes blur the distinction, and buyers discover the problem only after payment. Escrow with verified transfer protects both sides here too: the buyer confirms the version and control before funds release, and the seller gets paid once that confirmation is real.
